in there flowing well. >> this is coming up from sonoma county, they are investigating the smell of a chemical in cotati. alex savage has been there, what do you know? >> reporter: the concern is there could be a leak so you can see they have called out the hazardous materials team to this area. they are just about to go inside this pool company up the road fromage on the right-hand- side. it is north bay pool service on portal street. this is a heavily industrial area of ka cotati. no homes. all industrial. their all started when an alarm went off inside this building. the belief on the part of firefighters is that this was some kind of a chemical alarm. that is of course why they have the hazardous materials response here but crews are not sure. the battalion chief i talked with him, he said because they don't know that is why they are being cautious. >> we notified sonoma county office of emergency services and their hazmat team, so they are going to make a quick entry and determine whether or not scholar chlorine is -- there is a problem or malfunction. >> there have been no evacuations

to touch base on the western pond turtle project. this is a four-year project with the sonoma state university and oakland zoo. the sonoma state university collected 38 eggs, and we have been taking care of them for the last year. this weekend, they were reintroduced to the sonoma area. we hope by keeping them in captivity for one year, they have a head start and will survive better in their native habitat. quickly, some exhibit improvements -- we replaced all of the old bars. the viewing areas. they are now all class. it is better for the animals. the chances of debris falling into the grill have not improved. we also made some changes. this is the wells fargo wildlife theater. we have new benches and pathways. this is where we have our summer programming. our volunteers and staff to get the program. lastly, we are using recycled wood, and i feel like it is a piece of artwork there, but i thank horticulture staff for making those improvements as well. lastly, it is no outsand lan -- outside lands, but we did have 10,000 visitors for the fisher- price concert. visitors could take pi

developing news out of sonoma county this morning. a false alarm. fire crews were called to investigate a possible hazardous chemical smell. >>> the investigation is happening at north bay pool company on portal street in cotati. our cameras are out there, we have been there since 430. these are live pictures. investigators got a call at 1:30 this morning complaining about a strong smell of chlorine. when the investigators arrived they check a storage area in the back of the building and found nothing hazardous. they will stay there until the owner of the business arrives there. at that point they will try to wrap up their investigation. >> in overnight news sheriff's deputies are investigating a homicide in hayward. janine da lavega has new information. >> reporter: i just spoke to a neighbor who says the victim did not live here but was visiting a resident. as you can see deputies are still here on the scene keeping it secure. they say it happened just outside of apartment number 3. just after 9:30 last night deputies were called to -- to the scene here at bartlett avenue. they found
